I’M ENGAGED! NOW WHAT?

You finally received your engagement ring! Yes!!! Now what is the first thing to do when you get engaged? There are a lot of things for you to consider, people to call, and things to do. But don’t worry boo, I got you! There is plenty of time to plan the rest of your lives, but if you’re like most newly engaged individuals, you’ll be eager to tell all your friends and delve right into wedding planning. We get it!
To ensure that your wedding planning gets off to a good start, we’ve compiled a list of the 6 most important things any couple should undertake after being engaged.
New Ring, Who dis?

Call your parents and grandparents, as well as your siblings and best friends (unless you are keeping your engagement under wraps for a while). Your parents may be aware of the proposal and have been eagerly waiting for your call. Social media is the last place they should hear about your new status so give them a call and tell them the good news.
Get ya nails did

For the next few weeks, your hands will be the center of attention, so make sure your manicure is on point. If you don’t go to your favorite salon, at the very least make sure your nails are clean and shaped. Otherwise, your friends will notice your chipped polish rather than your brand new engagement ring. Having your nails perfect will come in handy for the next item on your list.
Take a selfie with your ring

Are you ready to announce your engagement to the world? Get your Instagram and TikTok ready! You have several options of showing off your new bling. There are always the classics: holding a mug with “Does This Ring Make Me Look Engaged?”, the face of surprise, him down on one knee, or you holding your hand out in front of your fiancé. Nothing beats one of these posts except if the proposal was caught on camera. If you have the footage of the proposal, edit it down to post on your Reels or TikTok. Don’t forget to post on Facebook as well for the more mature members of your community.
Let’s Party!
Go out for a celebratory drink with some of your closest friends and family, or treat yourself to a special date night alone if that’s more your thing. You’re engaged, enough said.

Go Get Protected

This next task is not exactly the most romantic or thrilling thing in the world, but it might just save your sanity and wallet in the end. Make sure your engagement ring is insured. Your partner may have already taken out wedding insurance when purchasing the ring, but if not, separate jewelry insurance, which covers accidental damage such as the loss of a stone, is worth checking into. You might also inquire about adding the ring to your home contents policy with your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy provider. Take images of your ring and preserve the valuation documentation safe to make any claim easy.
While You're There...

If the ring fits give your man bonus points for knowing what size you wear! If it doesn’t, you’ll want to get it sized right away, especially if it is super loose. After all, you don’t want to lose thousands of dollars just minutes after saying yes. While you are there, have the jeweler appraise your new possession. As mentioned before, keep this documentation somewhere safe.
Once these 6 things are done, the real work begins. There are thousands of decisions that you have to make to ultimately plan your wedding. Remember, I am here to help you. So if you just received your engagement ring, be sure to check out an additional checklist as well here. You can also give me a call or shoot me a text at 480-788-3378 to ask any questions.
